Rap star, D.cryme has bemoaned the amount of money Ghanaian promoters give to local artistes when booking them for shows.
The Tema-based artiste speaking on Celebrity Ride With Zionfelix show stated that event promoters mostly cry on musicians whenever they are bargaining which melts the hearts of the artiste to reduce his charges to the barest minimum but they give their colleagues from Nigerian huge sums of cash for shows in Ghana.
The Koko Sakora hitmaker opined that promoters mostly sing the “we don’t have money” song but disgrace musicians to the public for taking the peanut they offered to pay.
He said the gross disrespect these individuals show local acts has contributed a lot to the stagnant music industry.
Kwasi Darlington as he is known in real life further told show host, Zionfelix that Nigerians have a policy which prevents a promoter from paying their local acts less than $20,000.
The ‘Twi Pop’ record boss quickly added that Ghana has no scheme like that of the Nigerians which protects the musician hence event organisers treat artistes as they wish.
He later spoke against the influx of foreign content on radio and TV. D.cryme stated that it will not be bad for Ghanaian music to take ninety percent on the airwaves with foreign music sharing the remaining percentage.
