Pressure is mounting on former Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Rachel Appoh to withdraw a defamation suit at the high Court against maverick showbiz personality Afia Schwarzenegger.
This follows a defamation suit filed by lawyers of the MP against Afia as a result of some unprintable allegations made against the former.
In the view of the lawyers of the MP, Ms. Appoh had by the action sort to give the controversial showbiz personality the opportunity to prove her allegations before court.
Ms. Appoh who is also a former Gender Minister in the National Democratic Congress government had dragged Afia demanding GHC 5 million damages.
But close associates of the MP, family, constituents as well as politicians across the political divide disagree.
They argue that Afia Schwarz does not merit the attention of the MP.
According to them, Ms. Appoh towers above the pettiness of Afia and as such ought not to waste her time, energy and resources on her.
Meanwhile, the Police Criminal Investigation Department is set to invite Appiah Stadium to assist in investigating a charge of invasion of privacy lodged against him by the former legislator.
Appiah stadium had reportedly called Ms Appoh on phone using former president John Dramani Mahama’s name, recorded the conversation and allegedly sold it to Afia Schwarz for GHC1,000.
Also on the invitation list of the BNI and the police CID is one Debora Edith Chibhamu, an ex-lover of one Elikem Kumordzi, the man at the centre of the controversy.
Edith, currently based in Dubai had among other things also accused Ms Appoh of running an abortion clinic.
