Reactions to the scuffle at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which came off at the new dome of the Accra International Conference Center on May 18 continue to pour in from industry players.
The latest to share his opinion on the huge embarrassment suffered by the music industry is popular entertainment pundit and manager, Prince Nana Poku, popularly known as Ashes.
According to him, self-acclaimed Dancehall king in Ghana, Shatta Wale is the destroyer of the 20th anniversary of the most prestigious music awards in the country.
Ashes stated on the ‘Uncut’ show hosted by Zionfelix after the scuffle at the event that Shatta Wale and his bodyguards had no business climbing onto the stage to do whatever he claimed he wanted to do because it did not make sense and was totally wrong.
He also pointed out that Stonebwoy who might not have been happy that Shatta Wale won the award for the Reggae/Dancehall song of the year earlier, calmly sat in his seat when Shatta Wale’s people went onto the stage to pick the award and as such Shatta Wale should have done the same.
The ‘Day Break Hitz’ entertainment review show regularly panelist added that because this foolishness has not been the culture of Ghanaians in the music space, award schemes should as a matter of urgency sit down and scrape the Reggae/Dancehall genre from their categories if it will lead to such senseless chaos.
