The long-standing tension between Ghanaian dancehall giants Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy seems to have resurfaced, with netizens speculating that Shatta Wale’s recent Facebook post might be a response to Stonebwoy’s comments on Angel FM in Kumasi.
In the early hours of Monday, December 30, 2024, Shatta Wale, currently out of the country as he gears up to perform alongside Jamaican music icon Vybz Kartel at the highly anticipated Freedom Concert, shared a cryptic message on his Facebook wall: “God Is Here.”
While the post itself is vague, many fans and critics have interpreted it as a subtle clapback at Stonebwoy, who just a day prior, labeled Shatta Wale a “trickster” during a fiery interview.
Given the timing of Shatta Wale’s post, many believe it is a calculated response to Stonebwoy’s comments.
This latest controversy stems from an incident where Stonebwoy’s recent associate, MC Portfolio, accepted a GH¢5,000 cash gift from Shatta Wale on live TV.
The act, which sparked heated debates among fans, led many to question MC Portfolio’s loyalty to Stonebwoy.
Despite the mounting controversy, Stonebwoy initially maintained silence, leaving fans speculating about his stance.
However, during his Angel FM interview with Ike De Unpredictable on Sunday, December 29, 2024, Stonebwoy finally broke his silence and directed sharp criticism at Shatta Wale.
“Don’t you know the tricks of this man? This trickster? This settings man? He set him up with GH¢5,000. He’s keeping tons of five cedi notes in his room, so he thinks he has money,” Stonebwoy remarked.
He further dismissed the cash gift as insignificant compared to his financial capacity, stating, “How much is GH¢5,000? By God’s grace, I have more than GH¢5,000 to offer.”
