The maiden edition of the Sing Like Obaapa (SLOPA) competition has been nothing short of surprises, with the latest twist being the song choices for the grand finale.

The three finalists; Nana Yaw Prince, Nora Brown, and Nana Yaa Evelyn—have unintentionally selected 25 songs produced by Dan Bassey, CEO of Bassey House of Music, as their repertoire when it was the big night of the grand finale.

This shocking development has sparked conversations about the impressive legacy of Dan Bassey, who has worked extensively with Obaapa Christy over the years.

Dan Bassey’s contributions to Obaapa Christy’s career have been monumental, producing some of her most iconic songs.

Despite Obaapa having recorded tracks in other studios throughout her illustrious career, it is telling that none of those songs made it to the final performances of this maiden competition.

The choice of exclusively Bassey-produced songs is currently getting a lot of reactions online as many netizens are beginning to speak about his unmatched influence on Obaapa Christy’s career.

The grand finale took place on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Disciples of Christ Ministry, Weija Junction, in Accra.

The event was organized by Francopa Management to honor Obaapa Christy’s legacy in the music industry.
