Budding musician Chaka New Yea was recently signed onto the Hoodz Entertainment Record Label in a deal that saw him walk with a house and some cool $500,000.
Even though the package in this deal will mean that the talented musician has a very decent living now, the road was not this smooth for him while growing up at Swedru and Accra some year ago.
Chaka New Yea gave the blow by blow account of all the struggles he went through as a child when he spoke to Zionfelix in quick interaction on the ‘Uncut’ show recently. He disclosed that from age five his hustle started because the marriage of his parent became sour and as such, they divorced.
The “Waving Level” singer disclosed that because the income of his mother was not that much, he had to hawk sugar cane when he closed from school each day until he finally completed the junior high school which was at the time called the junior secondary school.

Chaka New Yea further revealed that the second greatest challenge he faced after completion was getting involved in galamsey. He stated that he joined this difficult and dangerous job because there was no money to continue his education, even though he had gained admission at Odorgonno senior high school.
He worked at different galamsey sites for over five years before he finally decided to quit and became a security man in the nation’s capital. Chaka told Zionfelix that he worked as the security officer at one of the offices of Interpol for about four months before he became seriously ill and resigned.
The Hoodz Entertainment musician stated that he started doing music as a full thing after his sickness and so far, it has been a beautiful journey for him.
