Ghanaian dancehall and Afropop sensation, Stonebwoy, is set to graduate from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
This milestone comes after he resumed his academic journey in 2021, having previously cut short his education at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), where he was studying business administration to pursue a career in music.

Stonebwoy, whose real name is Livingstone Etse Satekla, shared his excitement with fans through a hilarious video posted on his Snapchat and other social media pages.
In the video, the artist can be seen wearing his mortarboard and enthusiastically shouting “graduation” while his wife, Dr. Louisa Satekla, is seen in the background sharing in his joy.
The couple’s light-hearted moment was a testament to the support and encouragement Stonebwoy has received from his wife, who played a crucial role in his return to the classroom.
Stonebwoy has mentioned in the past that Dr. Louisa encouraged him to go back to school and even purchased the admission forms for him.
Stonebwoy’s journey at GIMPA has been fueled by his passion for public administration, a field he believes is crucial for contributing to public welfare.
Speaking on Citi TV in November 2021, Stonebwoy explained his decision to pursue public administration, emphasizing his desire to make a positive impact beyond music. “I think I am making good friends over there [GIMPA]. I contribute nicely because I think public administration is one area I would love to learn and progress – it has to do with the public,” he said.
The artist’s dedication to his studies has not gone unnoticed by his family.
Recently, his two children surprised him with a cake and other treats to celebrate his final paper at GIMPA.
This heartwarming gesture further underscores the support Stonebwoy has received from his loved ones throughout his educational journey.
Stonebwoy has also advocated for creating systems that allow personalities like himself to return to academia and further their education. He believes that many of his colleagues in the music industry share the desire to contribute to the country’s development in diverse ways, not just through their musical talents.
