Musician and model Deborah Owusu-Bonsu Vanessa, popularly known as Sister Derby has totally lashed out at parents, the church and the group of Ghanaians who for one reason or the other gave their growing kids the orientation that wearing mini or skimpy skirts was a crime and a sin against God and as such, they should not wear one.
Speaking on Accra FM’s mid-morning show which is hosted by Nana Romeo, the ‘Kakalika Love’ hitmaker stated that until she became an adult who began to take decisions of her own, she was never at liberty to wear these dresses because of the sort of things these people she made reference to earlier poisoned her mind with.
The ‘African Mermaid’ went on to say in the interview that it was very stupid on the part of parents, the church and everybody who played a role in giving out this form of archaic education to young girls. She argues that it is totally unnecessary to tell a growing child not to wear mini skirts in this very hot climatic region.

Sister Derby further claimed that because this form of useless teaching has gone so deep into the minds of many Ghanaians, they tend to criticize her a lot for her very perfect fashion sense, just because it is not the norm in Ghana.
