As the anticipation builds for the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, slated to take place on the 1st of June at the prestigious International Conference Center, the music industry is abuzz with debates over who truly deserves the coveted ‘Artist of the Year’ title.

Award-winning Ghanaian music promoter and CEO of Sleeky Promotions, Sadick Assah, popularly known as Sleeky, has taken to his X page to fervently argue that none other than Stonebwoy, the acclaimed dancehall and reggae superstar, should walk away with the top honor.

In his post, Sleeky expressed his unequivocal support for Stonebwoy, highlighting the artist’s unparalleled achievements and consistent contributions to the music scene in the year under review.

He stated, “The TGMA will lose its credibility if this artist of the year goes in the wrong hand, none of the names in there works can match up the records of 1gad, stop the unnecessary measure with KP, e3r 😂 This is a Total disrespect, evil and a pure hatred. Oh Ghana.”

Stonebwoy, affectionately known as 1Gad, is in contention for the prestigious award alongside formidable competitors Black Sherif, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie, and King Promise.

Among these talented musicians, Sleeky pointed out that King Promise presents the most significant challenge to Stonebwoy’s claim to the title. However, he firmly believes that Stonebwoy’s record speaks for itself, making him the clear frontrunner.

Over the past year, Stonebwoy has continued to dominate the music charts, release hit after hit, and captivate audiences with his electrifying performances.

His influence extends beyond just his music, as he has also been a prominent figure in various philanthropic efforts, further solidifying his status as a role model and leader within the industry.

In contrast, while the other nominees have also had successful years, Sleeky argues that their accomplishments pale in comparison to the milestones achieved by Stonebwoy.

For instance, Black Sherif’s rapid rise and unique sound have made waves, and Kuami Eugene’s hit songs have resonated with many fans. Nacee’s influence in gospel music, Sarkodie’s legendary status in the rap scene, and King Promise’s smooth Afrobeat tunes have all been significant in the year under review.

However, according to Sleeky, these achievements do not quite reach the high bar set by Stonebwoy.
