In the era where many industry players are bemoaning the gradual demise of the local movie industry because producers and directors have not been able to effectively use their ingenuity, actor cum producer Attuquaye, who is popularly known as Aweele has come out to make some shocking revelations.

According to him, all the blame with regards to why the local TV scenes are always flooded with cheap foreign soap operas should be given to the local TV stations.

Speaking on the ‘Showbiz Agenda’ show hosted by Sammy Flex, Aweele stated that most of these local TV stations treat them as beggars anytime they develop local great contents for them.

He revealed that not long ago, he contacted someone at Metro TV with a series they had produced  and suggested that they watch and air if they felt it was great. To his utter dismay, the person he had the interaction with told him that they will only air the series if he buys for airtime from the station.

Aweele further stated that the reply from the person was a complete affront to him. He told Sammy Flex that he inquired from the guy if developing local content for them to air was the same as someone coming to their station to do either a funeral announcement or any other commercial advert.
