The ban placed on Shatta Wale and Stonebowy has automatically affected other musicians who featured them on songs released last year in the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
In the year under review, all songs which featured these artistes being penalized by the VGMA board following their fracas at the 2019 edition of the award scheme have been snubbed by the organizers.
Following the release of nominees for the 2020 edition of the award scheme, Zionfelix.net has compiled a list of songs which were ignored by the VGMA board due to the ban placed on these musicians.
Songs like Wendy Shay’s Stevie Wonder featuring Shatta Wale didn’t earn any nomination despite how popular it was.
Kofi Kinaata featuring Shatta Wale on Never Again, the remix of Omo Ada featuring Medikal, Fella Makafui and Shatta Wale, Becca featuring Shatta Wale on Driving License, DJ Vyrusky’s Baby featuring Kuami Eugene, KiDi and Shatta Wale, Kwesi Arthur’s African Girl with Shatta Wale include some of the songs which were ignored by the VGMA organizers.
On the part of Stonebwoy, Cabum’s Zakari featuring Sarkodie and Stonebwoy, Sarkodie’s Odo Bi featuring Stonebwoy, Kojo Antwi’s Akyekyede3 Nante3 featuring Stonebwoy, KiDi’s Come Thru with Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy on Strength of a Woman are some of the songs which were blacklisted.
Currently, the board of VGMA has not disclosed how long the ban placed on Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy would last.
Any musician who has a dream of earning a VGMA nomination in the future must weigh his/her options well before featuring Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy on a song until the ban is lifted.
