Radio presenter Nana Romeo of Accra FM has questioned why gospel artiste Patience Nyarko did not grab any award at the 19th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards ‘VGMA’ despite her banger, ‘Obin Nyamime”.
The mid-morning show host stated on his program on Monday said: “For the second time when most Ghanaians knew Patience Nyarko was going to be awarded the gospel song of the year in the just ended VGMA with no doubt, she was swerved, “.
According to the radio presenter, “ in respect to last year’s VGMA’s, Patience hit song “wafom kwan” released in 2016 undoubtedly enjoyed airplay than any other song in that category last year and every gospel music lover could clearly see the award coming her way, but on the day of the Awards she was denied just like this year. Nana Romeo of Accra FM is asking if it’s a curse or her destiny not to be ever awarded in any VGMA’s?”.
The radio presenter further continued that “Her hit song “Obi Nyane me” which featured Brother Sammy has been and is still the country’s favorite gospel song enjoying airplay all over the country, in which lots of Ghanaians have made their own videos for the song. Some Ghanaians used her Obi Nyaneme hit the track for their weddings, parties including Osei Kwame Despite using the song to celebrate his birthday on live television even when the video for the song was not out. Is it a curse or a deliberate act from the VGMA board not to honor Patience Nyarko for her hard work in the industry?”
Patience Nyarko had nominations for Gospel Song of The Year and Gospel artiste of the year but lost all to Joe Mettle.
