When King Promise’s ‘5 Star’ album was announced as the ‘Album of the Year’ at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards event that took place on May 6, 2023, at the Grand Arena, a lot of the people gathered at the auditorium looked shocked.
Many people before the award’s event had projected that there was no way any other album in that category was going to beat Black Sherif’s ‘The Villian I Never Was’ album for the bragging rights.
Well, the projections obviously failed to work because the Legacy Life Entertainment signed music act was the one who grabbed this particular award.
Moments after the award’s event ended on Sunday morning, Ghanaian blogger/vlogger, Zionfelix caught up with renowned radio/TV presenter, Sammy Flex to inquire why he looked so shocked when Blacko failed to win the Album of the Year award.

In that quick chat, the host of CTV’s entertainment review show mentioned that the announcement of King Promise’s album as the winner of that particular category is the biggest shock any award event has given him in his life.
Sammy Flex added that the ‘Villian I Never Was’ album by Blacko did incredible things music-wise because every single track on it was a hit song that chalked crazy numbers on various streaming platforms.
He added that once an individual decides to play the album, there is not a single track the person will decide to skip because all the songs are so good.
The former host of Zylofon FM’s ‘Showbiz Daily’ show also added that even though he is an industry person, he did not know the name of King Promise‘s album he used to win the award and added that this was not to say the ‘Commando’ hitmaker did not deserve the award.
