The family has made it clear that they will not be intimidated or bullied in their quest for justice.
During an interview on Angel FM, a member of the bereaved family emphasized their determination to seek justice for the young boy.
The family member, who is said to be an uncle of the deceased boy, pointed out that the victims did not come from a disadvantaged background, dispelling any notion that they could be easily silenced or manipulated.
“He thinks he is dealing with a bunch of poor people… we have taken this matter very seriously. Some utterances by his PRO (Public Relations Officer) led a presenter to caution me against being paid off, and I told him that everyone who knows our family in Kumasi knows that we are not destitute or hungry people,” stated the uncle of the deceased child.

The uncle clarified the family’s position by highlighting their social standing and resources. “If you look at the Nyarko Towers where we live, that is just a small place we have rented in town, we travel home on weekends. So if they think they are dealing with some weak people that they can bully, they should be careful,” he added.

Background…
On Monday, June 3, 2024, Lilwin was granted bail of GH¢50,000 with two sureties by the Asokore Mampong District Court in Kumasi. This followed his arrest by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command immediately after his discharge from the hospital.
The arrest was related to the fatal accident in which LilWin’s vehicle collided with another car, resulting in the death of the three-year-old child. The police noted that the delay in his arrest was due to his medical condition at the time.
Currently under investigation, Lilwin faces charges of dangerous driving and causing harm through negligence. Despite the delay in legal action attributed to his health issues, his lawyer, Margaret Adjei-Twum, successfully argued for his bail.
She cited his injuries, which included internal bleeding, and stressed the necessity of bail for his continued medical treatment, as reported by citinewsroom.com.
Adjei-Twum reassured the court that LilWin’s high profile in Ghana and his commitment to face the legal process minimized any risk of flight. The defense also expressed concerns that the police might have rushed the case to court before LilWin had fully recovered.
The court has adjourned the case to June 27, 2024.
