Celebrated Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has eulogized legendary highlife singer, Charles Kwadwo Fosu aka Daddy Lumba for his consistency in the music business.
The BET award-winner speaking at the 5th edition of All Africa Music Awards launch in Accra on Monday, May 21 2018, opined that legends like Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, and Amakye Dede have failed to release hit songs in recent times but they still charge huge sums of money due to the good songs they released years back. According to him, he believes the ‘Awoso’ singer and his colleagues released timeless songs that will never die from the system and that is why they still get thousands attending their concerts.
Obidi further revealed at the AFRIMA launch that Lumba sometime past told him that musicians of today are focused on going international forgetting that they need to conquer the country before getting the outside recognition they want. The ‘Adonai’ hitmaker further advised his colleagues to work on building followers in Ghana instead of the cash they will enjoy at the moment they have hit songs because the fans will be by them even when they do not have popular songs to milk from.
Zionfelix.net at the event also heard the Sarkcess Music boss state that “I want to end up like Daddy Lumba who won’t sing the whole year but can wake up any month and organize shows and will still take any amount maybe I (Sarkodie) cannot charge. He still rocks big shows without any hit song.”
