The solemn proceedings for the state funeral rites of the late former First Lady, Theresa Kufuor, are currently unfolding at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
The commemorative event commenced at 7 a.m. with a dignified file past, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings, which is expected to be followed by a burial mass at 9 a.m.

On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, a requiem mass was conducted at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cantonments, Accra.
The solemn occasion brought together a gathering of high-profile personalities, politicians, members of the New Patriotic Party, and a host of family and friends, all joining in solidarity to pay their respects to the late former First Lady.
Theresa Kufuor, who entered into matrimony with former President John Kufuor in 1962, had a distinguished tenure as Ghana’s First Lady from 2001 to 2009. Her life and contributions are now being honored in these final funeral rites, a fitting tribute to a remarkable woman who played a pivotal role in the history of Ghana.
At the age of 87, she left behind a legacy that is being honored and remembered with the utmost respect.
The passing of Theresa Kufuor occurred at her residence in Peduase, where she was surrounded by her family, on Sunday, October 1.
