The announcement of an indefinite ban by the board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards handed to Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy on Thursday, May 23 for their scuffle at the 20th anniversary of the awards event continues to receive a lot of reactions from industry players in the creative arts sector.
Even though many people feel that the ban of two top Reggae/Dancehall musicians was very much needed to send across a strong message and that it will affect both of them a great deal, others are of the strong conviction that it is will affect the Burniton Music boss the more.
Joy News’ MzGee told Zionfelix on the ‘Uncut’ show recently that Stonebwoy has a lot to lose over VGMA Board and Charterhouse indefinite ban.
According to her, VGMA’s indefinite ban will affect Stonebwoy’s international deals and recognition hugely than Shatta Wale. She explained that Stonebwoy recently signed an ambassadorial deal with Samsung Ghana, deals with VP and Universal Records and others but if care is not taken he is likely to lose these deals as a result of his gun pulling brouhaha and VGMA’s indefinite ban.
MzGee added that Stonebwoy has built a reputation for himself both locally and on the international front and it pains her that such an unfortunate incident has happened in his flourishing career.
Eugene Osafo-Nkansah, another entertainment personality with Accra based Peace FM and the managing editor of Nkonkonsa.com also told Zionfelix that he feels very sad for Stonebwoy.
He made the point that the career of Stonebwoy is currently on the rise, with the winning of many international awards like the Nickelodeon and the collaborations beyond the shores of the country with top music stars like Bennie Man, he feels it will greatly affect him.
Nkonkonsa added that he felt that Stonebwoy should have controlled his temper a little more bearing in mind that Shatta Wale does these things all the time.
