In a statement released on June 10, 2024, Wave Africa, has finally addressed the misunderstandings surrounding the cancellation of Shatta Wale’s performance at the Reunion Rave Artiste Night at James Top Nelson Yankah Hall (TF Hostel) within the University of Ghana.
The press release from Wave Africa explained that the agency was contacted two months prior by the executives of the hall to organize the event. After two months of deliberations, a formal contract was signed on June 5, 2024.
Following this, they as organizers secured Shatta Wale for the event, and promotional materials were released.
However, to their surprise, on June 7, 2024, the Dean of Students’ Office announced the cancellation of the event.
Upon inquiry, hall executives assured them that the issues with the Dean’s office had been resolved, allowing the event to proceed as planned.

Despite these assurances, on June 8, during setup and soundcheck, campus security intervened, citing an “order from above” to ban Shatta Wale’s performance.
Subsequent meetings with the Dean of Students confirmed that the event could continue, but without Shatta Wale.
