Senegalese-born international music star, Akon has at a press conference that came off at the Movenpick Ambassadors Hotel in Accra today admitted that he signed the BET ‘International Flow Artiste’ 2019, Sarkodie onto his record label, Konvict Music back in the day.
The award-winning musician, born Aliaune Damala Akon Thiam also stated that Nigeria’s top music stars P-Square and Wizkid were at the time also signed onto the record label.
Akon added that the main priority of his record label over the years is to help project all the musicians they sign properly to the world while they work in the shadows and not milk them out of the money they get.
This admission of Akon is, however, in sharp contrast to the remark he made back in 2013 when he granted an interview to the Joy FM drivetime show which was hosted by Bola Ray at the time.
In that particular interview, the Konvict Muzik boss said: “That was one of our main goals. Sarkodie was supposed to be the artiste that we actually brought out of Ghana and we take him to the next level but unfortunately, we couldn’t get the deal together so the deal never closed”
Unless he got to sign him later, this is what is already on record in Ghana.
