The cruise was set to take place onboard a luxury ship on August 19, 2023, in Greece.
This edition of Afro Cruise Jam follows the success of its inaugural event last year, which featured esteemed Grammy award winner Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage fame and the renowned Abrantie Amakye Dede with his Apollo High-Kings band.
The cruise company had entered into a financial agreement with Black Sherif’s management, with a mutually agreed-upon payment for his performance on the cruise. As part of the contract, an initial payment was made to the artist, confirming the agreement.
However, the situation took a contentious turn when Cruise People Limited requested a video recording from Black Sherif, confirming his participation and availability for the event.
Despite repeated communication attempts, the artist allegedly failed to provide the requested video, leading to tensions and doubts about his commitment to the cruise.
Feeling frustrated and concerned about potential reputational damage to their event, Cruise People Limited made the decision to escalate the matter and involve law enforcement, resulting in Black Sherif’s arrest at Kotoka International Airport.
As the story continues to unfold, the statement from Cruise People Limited sheds light on their perspective and the events leading up to the arrest. The situation serves as a reminder of the significance of clear communication, adherence to contractual agreements, and the potential consequences of disagreements in the entertainment industry.
Fans and industry stakeholders are now eagerly waiting for further updates from both parties involved, as they navigate this high-profile dispute.
The incident serves as a cautionary tale for artists and event organizers alike, emphasizing the importance of open dialogue and transparency in contractual dealings to avoid potential legal complications.
